the sea calls

Artist Statement:

I hear the sea call for me.

Even when I can’t see her.

I know she longs for me.

If I were a mermaid,

Could I dive down deep?

Could I see what she wanted from me?

Could I be who she wanted me to be?

In my mind, one day her call will set me free.

I’ll float on the surface,

And slowly drift.

Sinking to the bottom.

As the waves shift.

The fish will swim past me.

Looking downwards in curiosity.

I’ll think to myself,

I wonder if she calls them too.

Our bodies are 80% water.
We are connected to the sea.
You know we have only explored 5% of our oceans?

The sea calls, do you hear it too?
